By
implementing the program, you know that you have addressed the concerns
of the employees in dealing with this problem.
You
have contributed to a safer workplace and have allowed others to make
a similar contribution.
You
have reduced the risk of a workplace violence incident and have provided
a means by which employees can help impede and avoid incidents.
What the prevention program involves...
Education
We
provide training for supervisors that:
- Enable them to recognize dangerous
and potentially dangerous situations and to be able to react appropriately.
- Teach how these situations can be
avoided or defused, whether these situations resulted from the actions
of employees, clients, or third parties.
- Stress the importance of keeping open
communication about these problems, or potential problems, and acting
appropriately and immediately when these issues come to their attention.
We provide
familiarization sessions for employees that
include:
- Teaching them about workplace violence.
- Stressing the employer's policy regarding
workplace violence.
- Giving them skills in dealing with
potentially dangerous situations.
- Enabling them to make observations
about potentially dangerous situations.
- Providing a means by which employees
can inform management as to dangerous or potentially dangerous situations,
so that appropriate action can be taken.
Communication
We
implement our ActionLine, a toll-free
help service, to take anonymous reports of potentially dangerous behavior,
and refer these reports for safe resolution.
Preparation and Response
We
provide assistance to employers in putting together a crisis management
team and in dealing with potentially dangerous situations. We assist employers
in resolving reported issues or in dealing with situations which have
the propensity for trouble.
